Dear friends and family,

We are so excited to share this news with you. The Davis family is moving to Guatemala.

Paul went for his first visit to Buena Vista, Guatemala two years ago on an "exploratory" trip to see what deepStream guatemala  was all about. As you may know, Paul has traveled internationally for the past 20 years, and has seen many amazing ministries.  His reaction after returning from this trip was very different from anything I had ever seen from him before. He was really excited about what Brock and Kerrie Johnson were doing in that community. He was so excited about it, that I looked Brock and Kerrie's email address up and sent them a message just to share that whatever they were doing must be pretty fantastic if Paul was reacting this way. I just wanted to encourage them, and I honestly didn't think another thing about it.

Fast forward to October 2011, and I was asked to lead a short term missions trip to Guatemala to work with Brock and Kerrie's team. Honestly, I agreed to go so that I could go on a trip with Paul, but God had very different plans. Paul ended up staying home with our girls and I went and experienced something I cannot even begin to explain.

The moment I entered the Buena Vista Sports Academy for Boys, I sat by myself in the corner and cried as I felt God saying, this is where you belong. I saw exactly what Paul was excited about and it was the clearest message I have ever received from God. He made it clear that He has provided for our family in incredible ways to prepare us for this very place at this very time.

The Buena Vista Sports Academy for Boys is a ministry that is working to change a community through ministering to the boys of that area. This poverty stricken area of the world is one where men are abusive to their families and struggle with drugs and alcohol on an indescribable level. It is one where hope and life with our loving God is absent. The goal is to use academics and sports to build into these boys and share Jesus Christ with them so that they grow up to share Jesus with others, lead families that follow after God, run businesses of integrity, and change the dynamics of this part of the world.

Paul and I visited Guatemala again together in January 2012, and felt confirmed by God that this is the next step He has for us.  We then received another confirmation that God was making His plan for us clear when we were informed of the test results from my latest round of blood work and it confirmed what doctors were thinking this past summer...no lupus. Every single test came back as that of a healthy 34 year old woman after nearly 6 months without any medication. This is an absolute miracle, considering the fact that lupus is incurable and I was on chemotherapy to treat my lupus just one year ago. After a time of seeking wise council and praying, then receiving further clarification from Brock & Kerrie as to how we could best serve and what our roles would be in Guatemala, we officially accepted the call to move our family to the community of Buena Vista, Guatemala.

We are so very excited to be joining this team. Our plan is to move our family there in November of this year and that is why we are writing you. We are putting a team of people together that will commit to pray for our family. What we are looking for are people that will commit to a scheduled time each week and dedicate themselves to praying during that time not only for this ministry, but specifically for the Davis family. This is a huge step for us, and although we are confident that God has led us to this decision, we are asking for you to join us as we cover every decision, move, and transaction in prayer.
