Mike Lobos Family

I met Lezbeth on the streets of Buena Vista one day.  Very shy and hesitant, she asked if we built homes and said her family could use some help.  We visited their home soon after that, and began praying for a sponsor.

Not too long after that, we received a donation for a home from the Willingham family in Jacksonville, FL.  Thank you Willingham's for seeing needs and meeting them.  And thank you God for using them to meet the needs of the precious poor.

Mike and Lezbeth are 21 yrs old.  They have 2 boys, Jose Antonio (3.5) and Victor Manuel (2).  They are a shy family, extremely poor.  A small one-room shack made of mud, tin, and cornstalk.  With no kitchen, they burn a fire for cooking in their home 24hrs a day, filling their mud home with smoke.  The house has dirt floors and no electricty.  Their bathroom is a cement toilet sitting on the dirt, their only sink a bucket sitting under a spicket.

When we began construction, Mike's entire family jumped in to help.  His brother, parents, cousins, uncles, etc...  all helping out to move materials, dig, and build.  It was a beautiful picture of community and family.

We recently celebrated the key ceremony and enjoyed a time of worship together as we dedicated their home to the Lord.

In addition, a group of men from Destiny Center in New Mexico visited and built the Lobos family a new kitchen with "pila" for water, wired them for electricity, and is also donating a legitimite wood-burning stove.

Praise God!!!  Please pray with us as we seek to get to know Mike's family better.  We know of certain issues they have as a family (things that others have told us) and we are praying for opportunities to open up in these areas.

Thank you Willingham's and thank you Destiny Center for helping this young family out of extremely sad and dark living conditions.
