The Gomez Family (December)

ABOUT THE FAMILY:

Cesar and Lilian, with daughter Stefani.  A poor family with no home, the Gomez' live with relatives.  There are between 8-10 people packed into her sister's tiny house.  They have tried to build on their own, but Cesar's work barely provides enough for them to eat and get by.

The Gomez' are not Christians.  They are a sweet and endearing family, they make you feel welcome, and are very appreciative and loving.  Their daughter Stefani is as sweet and adorable as they come.

Lilian's father is a Christian, and donated some land for us to build on.  His hope was that they may see God in this process, and he was excited to know that we were led by God to meet this need for his daughter's family.  This project has been an emotional one, as we have not only been seeking to minister to this family physically, but praying for them to at least get a glimpse of Jesus in the process.

UPDATE:

What started as a simple gift of a home ended in radical transformation of a family.  Over the months, we grew to love this family very much.  Cesar (husband) gave his life to Christ at the key ceremony with vic, carl, and several others there to share the moment.  A few weeks later during an impromptu visit to the gomez home, Lilian was broken and overwhelmed with God's grace.  She gave her life to Jesus in a tear-filled celebration of god's forgiving love.  wow.  This started as a no-strings gift from God - a home to a family who didn't have one.  Praise god that as they move into their new home, they are actually moving into new life.
