This family consists of Gregorio's wife, son and new baby girl as well as his mother, brother and sister. Our first visit to this home was shocking - muddy ground, the stench of sewage, a swarm of flies , a young mother and her baby sitting on a bed in a 5ft x 9ft plastic room made of thin plastic sheeting.  Most disturbing was the open fire and smoke that was pouring out from the top of a fifty gallon drum in the same room.  A few days later the team was dismantling the old home, the soot and dust was unbelievable.. so toxic.   It seemed to me the whole rickety  structure was on it's last leg.  We're so happy we were able to help this family.  

When we began this home Gregorio's wife was near full term.  When we returned for the key ceremony there was a new beautiful baby girl in the home!  Through the whole process this family was really guarded - they had a hard time believing that this home was a gift.  Through construction I felt a sense of distrust and distance from the family.  I'm sure they were thinking "why would these wealthy americans show up and build us a new home for free?"  

At the key ceremony we celebrated with them and assured them that this home was their's and it was a gift.  Gregorio's mom was almost speechless but thanked us from her heart for this blessing that could have never happened without the help of this ministry...  Thanks Alex and the folks at BoA
