The Garcia's family home is sponsored by the family of John Walker of Jacksonville, FL.

We met this family as we walked through lower Buena Vista one day.  A very quiet family struggling with various health issues, we felt led to help them as soon as possible.  Thier home was dark, dirty, and full of smoke as their burning fire sits directly next to their bed.

Francisco and Elisia have 2 kids, and they all share a twin bed that is covered in filth.  Their home is made of packed mud bricks.

When we finally announced the news that we had a sponsor for their home, Francisco stood there stunned, and then immediately looked up to the sky.  I will never forget his reaction, and thankfully my daughter Brooke took a picture in that exact moment!  You will find it below...

Francisco worked on the jobsite everyday.  He was so excited about the house, and passionate about the work.

A few days before the key ceremony, Kerrie and I were visiting their family.  As we hung out with one of them, Elisia's eyes became red and swelled up with tears. She was overcome with emotion. Completely out of the context of the current conversation, she blurted out:

"I have to say something. I am so grateful for my home. I don't have words to say how thankful i am. i have prayed often for a home, but never knew how it could be possible. I never knew how, but i prayed. We have never made enough money to save 1 cent, even when we are all working. but i have prayed."

In tears, she hugged me, then kerrie. I was able to get my emotions in check and explain to her how much we love Jesus, and how God is so good. Its all i could think of to say. We explained how it is such a blessing for us to be able to help... how giving always tops receiving!

The day of the key ceremony was amazing.  A lot of laughing and some tears.  The Garcia's now have hanging in there home an 8x10 photo of the Walker family, and they are hopeful to meet them in person someday!  In addition, some friends from Florida donated a kitchen table and 6 chairs, which they were so excited to receive.

We are blessed to have been given the chance to help this grateful family.
