Catalina, Jose, their 5 kids, and grandmother live together in a very rough house.

During the rainy season of 2010, when we met them, they could usually be found huddling together on one bed in the corner of their home trying to stay warm.

When we finally received a sponsor for their home, it was in the middle of the rainy season and it was still going to be a couple months before we could start their new home.  But because the tin sheets on the roof were so weak, they were collapsing and their house was filling with water.

Mark and I (Brock) spent a day with our sons replacing their roof.  We didn't know it at the time, but we found out later that week that we had been out replacing their roof in the middle of storm Agatha.  It was pouring, and gusts of wind were ripping off the sheets of tin from their roof as well as the neighbors.

We finally were able to patch it up, and about 6 weeks later we started construction on their new home.

Before we began construction, the sponsor for this home (Destiny Center, from New Mexico) brought a group to guatemala and was able to announce to the family that they would be building them a new home.  It was a special moment together as they shared the news.  They also told the family that they wanted to build them a new bathroom and kitchen.

We completed and celebrated this home in late August of 2010.  We prayed over the home and the family and asked the Lord to shine bright from this place, making it a home that welcomed neighbors and others in need.

We're tahnkful for the family at Destiny Center who will be visiting twice in 2011, and seeks to stay close and connected with this family.
